Westcott House Digital Video

In 10th grade Geometry, we started "The Wescott Video Project" by visiting the Westcott House itself in Springfield, Ohio to learn about its geometric themes and structure of the house. We took cameras without us, and with knowledge of how to capture the perfect picture, we took pictures that capture the geometric shapes and patterns in the Wescott House. The purpose of this project was to create a successfel video that demonstrated the geometric themes of patterns or shapes in the Wescott House.

The requirements of this project was to create a video that keeps the viewer focused, the order makes sense and enhances viewer's sense of what the Wescott house is like, the video and pacing are dynamic; viewer has time to process every slide; timing of the slides enhances viewer's sense of what it is like at the Westcott House, the geometric theme is apparent, multiple transformations relating to geometric theme are apparent, and the slides keep viewers engaged. A challenge that I faced while trying to accomplish this project was learning how to use the "Movie Maker" program on the computer. I am not skilled or knowledgable when it comes to movie making and editing so learning to complete this project using that program was a struggle. Unfortantly, it was a struggle that I never overcame. It was at the same level of confusion to how to work it all through the process. But I was able to complete the project because my partner knew how to work the program. We compromised on how to finish this project: He was going to work on the movie and editing on the programs while I chose the pictures that we should include ni our videos along with the "Artist Statement" which was a reflection on what our geometric theme was and how we demonstrated it.
